Cambridgeshire Win Back North Yorkshire White Rose Shield

20 May 2017

This annual event was again a success with great bowls and the chance to meet up with old friends. North Yorkshire brought back the trophy having won it last year thinking that they would be taking it home with them once again. Cambridgeshire, however, had different ideas and proved it by winning 45 points to 27 with a shot difference of 308 to 238.

The Cambridgeshire team were joined by the following players from Suffolk and Hertfordshire - Pam Fayers, John Paddy, Margaret Hare, Alan Hare, Richard Paddy and Mary Paddy.

The second day of the weekend was run as a Drive with 70 players competing.  The winner for Cambridgeshire was Kevin Stanford with 40 shots and for North Yorkshire Mike Jones who had 33 shots.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the weekend including a carvery meal on the Saturday evening at The Wheel and are looking forward to next year when North Yorkshire will be the hosts.
