The first County Championship and National Qualifier was the Over 55 Pairs and took place at March IBC on 21 July 2018. Ten teams entered and drew numbers to decide which group they would be playing in. Their scores after the round robin were as follows:-
Linda White and Rosemary Cooper 6 points +14 shots, Geoff Ward and Barry Fox 8 points +40 shots, Judith Bendon and Maggie Bond 0 points -33 shots, Judith and Ray Fox 4 points -6 shots, Tony Groves and Rex Courtman 2 points -18 shots, Lynn Parker and Dave Bignall 6 points +12 shots, Gerry Russell and Joe Peters 4 points +6 shots, Janet Russell and Kevin Stanford 2 points even shots, Doreen Butcher and Mary Fox 2 points -23 shots, Margaret Rea and Patrick Bretagne 6 points +5 shots.
The winners of each group played the highest runners up in adjacent groups and Geoff Ward/Barry Fox and Lynn Parker/Dave Bignall progressed to the final. The result of the Final was an 11 - 4 win for Geoff and Barry.
The winners and runners-up will represent Cambridgeshire in the Nationals next year.
