A good entry of 21 teams contested a really good day of short mat bowls at MIBC on Saturday 14th January 2022.
Due to some late call offs due to illness John Boddye made up team number 1 playing with different people throughout the day who would otherwise have sat out.
All teams played 4 games over 6 competitive rounds. Sadly three teams finished the day without scoring a point but regardless a good day was had by all.
As usual Maureen with help from Joanne organised an excellent raffle which itself contributed £99.00 profit towards association funds. A big thank you to all those members who generously donate raffle prizes and buy raffle tickets.
Overall the day returned £171.36 profit to CSMBA funds.
Prizes were awarded to the top four places and the scores were incredibly close.
4th Kevin Stanford & Chris Plaice with 6 points and a shot difference of + 22
3rd Brenda & Charlie Waling with 6 points and a shot difference of +27
2nd Jayne Thorpe & Rob Bonello with 8 points and a shot difference of +24
1st Angela Randall & David Wilcox with 8 points and a shot difference of +25
Angela and David were a scratch team who had never played together before yet it was Angela’s accurate drawing that finally got the team home.
Angela was pleased to be awarded the ‘Aussie Pairs’ trophy and for some time holds the bragging rights at home as Craig has not won this competition before. Will he ever live it down ! Still there is always another competition around the corner.
All members were glad to see the chairman Barry Fox at the event who despite his recent illness attended to present the prizes.
