Three Wood Pairs

04 Mar 2023

26 teams entered this year's 3 wood pairs with only one team calling off late due to illness.  We all wish Rob Gay a speedy recovery.

Fortunately we managed to find a replacement team from Walpole Highway at the last minute comprising of Linda Cave & Graham Martin who are both relatively new to the game.

All teams via open draw played 4 games over 8 rounds with some excellent matches and high quality play.

Maureen Bell as usual organised a very successful raffle and a big special thank you to all those players who donated excellent raffle prizes and purchased tickets. A total of £110.00 profit was made from the raffle alone.

Only 2 teams won all four matches, and both these teams numbers 11 and 13 also had the identical shot difference of +28. There was a slight delay whilst the scorecards were checked to establish the total number of ends won to find the winners and even then only 1 end in it.

The chairman Mr Barry Fox kindly awarded prizes to winners as well as drawing the raffle.

Cash prizes and small Easter eggs were awarded to the first three teams with larger eggs only to 4th place.

1st Team 13 : Josie Charter & Maureen Bell : 8 points with a S/D of +28. Total 20 ends won.

2nd : Team 11 : Kevin Stanford & Chris Plaice : 8 points with a S/D of +28. Total 19 ends won.

3rd :Team 12: Brenda & Charlie Waling : 6 points with a S/D of +31.

4th : Team 6 : Barry Stanford & Richard Kinghorn : 6 points  with a S/D of +23.

Confectionery prizes were also awarded to the team finishing in 26th place consisting of new players Steve Dewey and Herbert Lovell.

A big thank you to all those players who helped to make the day a tremendous success.

Our last minute replacement team won 3 out of the 4 games so they to had a good day.

A total of £203.15 profit was made from this event.

Thank you once again to all those who contributed to a great day of bowls.
