Match Report
Match Report - 07 Dec 2025, Cambridgeshire Short Mat Bowls County Premier Team lost to West Midlands 1
Cambs played their penultimate ICC fixture of the season away to West Midlands at Solihull IBC on the 7th December 2025. Due to unforeseen circumstances several of our selected county squad were unable to play, so we began the day at a disadvantage .
When the West Midlands team visited us earlier in the season they were without a number of their regular players and relied on substitutes new to county matches. For the return fixture they had their usual squad back, meaning we faced a much stronger settled side.
Despite the challenge, we secured 10 of the 40 points , losing the day 10-30, with a total of161 shots for and 241 shots against. It was still a very enjoyable day of bowls with a good atmosphere throughout our squad, with plenty of competitive play. As always , there are areas we can work on moving forward, though on this occasion our options were limited by the players available.
On the rink, we recorded wins in one of the pairs , both of the triples and both fours. Unfortunately , we just missed out on the triples bonus points by 2 shots.
Our final game of the regular season is a home fixture against Northamptonshire after Christmas, before we move onto the knockout stage.
Thanks to all of you for your effort and support throughout the season. Wishing ever member of the squad a very merry Christmas and a happy new year
Joe Peters
Premier team captain.
