Match Report - 01 Mar 2026, Cambridgeshire Short Mat Bowls County Premier Team lost to ICC Rinks competition
8 Cambridgeshire players represented their county in the ICC Rinks competition on 1st March at Melton Mowbray. A total of sixteen counties competed in the fours event, with the combined scores of both teams determining the overall result.
Last year we narrowly missed progressing to the next round, so we were hopeful of improving on that performance this time. Our opposition included Northamptonshire, West Sussex and Cheshire, resulting in six highly competitive games where the scores fluctuated throughout.
Despite our best efforts, we were unable to progress to the knockout stages. This was a disappointing outcome, particularly as we had a strong and well balanced team. Throughout the matches, we worked closely together, carefully constructing the head to minimise the impact of our opponents bowls and maximise our own chances. Unfortunately, it was not to be this year. We will regroup, and return next season and aim to reach the knockout stages.
