Dated 26th May 2024
Another good day for the CSMBA as 18 teams competed in the three wood
mixed pairs competition this year being two more teams than 2023.
Unfortunately Mike Carter had to withdraw on the morning of the event
due to his wife's illness and we wish Mary a very speedy recovery.
Peter Griffiths kindly stood in as reserve and his partners were made
up throughout the day by different ladies who would otherwise have sat out that
round.
All teams played 4 matches over 7 ends and returned some very close
scores. These included 5 draws throughout the day which goes to show how close
and competitive these matches were.
The top 4 placings were confirmed as follows:-
4th : Team 2 : Angela Jordan & Billy Chapman with 6
points and a SD of +15.
3rd : Team 7 : Janet Russell & Malcolm Spriggs with 7
points and a SD of + 25
2nd : Team 16 : Steph & Barry Stanford with 8 points and
a SD of +16
1st : Team 14 : Hazel
& Phil Spry with 8 points and a SD of +33
Hazel has yet another trophy to clean and add to her increasing
collection.
After all deductions and payments the event returned a credible profit
of £118.55 towards CSMBA funds.
A big thank you to those unsung members who helped with the equipment
and ensured the MIBC was left clean and in good order at the end of hire.
The committee thanks those members who took part and contributed
towards yet another good day of short mat bowls.
