Over 55 Pairs Saturday 27 August 2022

12 teams contested another excellent day of bowls at the MIBC. The event was run as the county championship but was also the national qualifier for the over 55 pairs which ran alongside.

Jeff Saunders unfortunately had to leave the event prior to the start as he needed to return home to look after his unwell wife. We wish them both well, and a very speedy return to short mat bowls.

The 12 teams were split into 3 groups of 4, from which the winner and highest scorer across all 3 groups went into the semi-final.

The day went well and was supported by an excellent raffle organised by Maureen Bell.

As winners Derek and Jean Retchless were presented with the county trophy which co-incidentally they had both won the previous year.

Cash prizes were given to both the winners and the runners up Maureen Bell and Josie Charter.

After all costs the event made a modest profit of £44.50 towards CSMBA funds. The breakdown for the benefit of members is as below.
