CSMBA Singles National Qualifier

17 Nov 2024

County Championship Singles and National Qualifier : Sunday 17th November 2024

Twenty six (26) players entered this years county championship four wood singles which was also a county qualifier for the nationals to be held at Melton Mowbray IBC on Thursday 10th April 2025.

A total of ten (10) players had elected to enter the national qualifier, but as usual in Cambridgeshire both competitions were run in conjunction with each other.

The 26 players were divided by way of open draw in 4 teams of 4 and 2 teams of 5.

There were some really tight matches and after some double checking of scorecards the 4 players entering the knock-out semi-finals after a tough quarter final were Joe Peters, Chris & Kelly West along with Charlie Waling.

In Semi-Final 1 on Mat 2 Joe Peters beat Chris West in a tight encounter 11 shots to 8.

In the other semi Charlie Waling came out victorious 16 shots to 3. Kelly had a great tournament however and at her first serious attempt at the county singles championships got to the semi-finals which is no mean feat.

The final was won by Joe Peters and Chris beat Kelly in the 3rd/4th place play off in an all Holbeach SMBC affair.

The chairman presented the singles trophy to Joe Peters which on countback is the fifth time he has won this particular trophy since his first victory in 2009-2010.

A big thankyou to those members who turned up early to lay out all the 8 mats and equipment. A special  thanks to Roly Fincham for carrying out the umpiring duties so efficiently on the day.

After a very successful raffle and following all deductions a total of £74.16 was credited to association funds from this event.

Thank you all.
