THREE WOOD PAIRS : MIBC : SUNDAY
13TH JULY 2025
A total of 22 teams attended on Sunday
13th to play the 3 wood pairs.
It was an incredibly hot day and I
struggle to remember the last time when we had all fire exits open to
increase air circulation.
It has also been quite a while since
we found it necessary to deploy the air circulation fans.
It was still uncomfortably hot at
times but better than it could have been without the extra air
circulation.
All players arrived in good time, so
much so that we were able to start a few minutes before 9.30am. The
competition was played over eight rounds of seven ends allowing each
team four matches with well deserved hydration breaks in between.
At the conclusion of the tournament
only two teams had won all four games which goes to show how close
the matches were with good teams beating each other.
The day was played in good spirit and
although competitive we all saw many incidents of good sportsmanship.
The final scores with the top three
teams, were awarded cash prizes as advertised by the CSMBA Chairman Mr Barry Fox.
1st TEAM 5 : Hazel Spry &
David Wilcox : 8 points with a SD of + 21
2ndTEAM 2 : Peter Griffiths
& Billy Chapman : 8 points with a SD of + 17
3rd TEAM 9 ; Malcolm
Spriggs & Barry Stanford : 6 points with a SD of +17
The chairman also presented a box of
biscuits each to two of our young players Chloe Cowan and Rory Chapman. The |CSMBA is constantly encouraging our
younger members to play these competitions and integrate with older
members and these two certainly acquitted themselves well on the day.
The CSMBA committee would like to
sincerely thank all those members who brought along some fantastic
prizes to supplement the ones that Maureen Bell our raffle organiser
purchases for these events. It was indeed a good raffle returning
£192.00 in profit for CSMBA funds.
These sort of sums could not be
achieved without the generosity of a great number of our members who donate prizes and purchase plenty of tickets.
My particular thanks to Sharon Bingham
for her excellent floral arrangements and imaginative other prize
donations.
Overall the event realised a net
profit of £249.55 which is a pretty decent return from a very good
bowling day.
I am now having a bit of a break
before embarking on a flurry of winter events starting with the 4
wood county championship singles and national qualifier to be held at
MIBC on Sunday 21st Septembers 2025.
See you all there.
