SUNDAY 26TH OCTOBER 2025:FOUR
WOOD PAIRS
This year we had 14 teams enter the 4
wood pairs competition. To be frank we expected a few more entries
but it seems as though we clashed with holidays and other
commitments.
Regardless we all had a pretty good
but long day of bowling, with all teams playing all rounds and
refreshment breaks in between. This format has proved quite popular
and we will certainly give this schedule of play another go where no
teams are left sitting out.
We planned 6 rounds of 7 ends which
with no dead ends was a minimum of 252 woods each player. This proved
a little tiring for some of our more mature members but we all made
it to the bitter end.
Only team 8 made up of Barry Fox and
Wayne Locke remained unbeaten throughout the day and well done to
them
The top 4 placings were listed as
follows:-
1st Team 8 : Wayne Locke &
Barry Fox with 12 points and a SD of +24.
2nd Team 7 : David Wilcox &
Roly Fincham with 9 points and a SD of +26
3rd Team 4 : Charlie Rate
& Richard Kinghorn with 9 points and a SD of +7
4th Team 10 : Barry
Stanford & Malcolm Spriggs with 8 points and a SD of +31
As the chairman and secretary were to
receive prizes, Steph Stanford as a committee member kindly presented
chocolate and boxes of biscuit prizes to the winning teams.
After a successful raffle and all
deductions the event returned a profit of £119.16 towards CSMBA
funds.
