COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP 2 WOOD PAIRS
SUNDAY 30TH
NOVEMBER 2025
A
total of 18 teams entered this years pairs county championship of
which only 4 elected to enter the national qualifier.
The
event as usual was held at
our primary venue, March Indoor Bowls Club and we used all 8 mats to
ensure we could get the competition (run to ESMBA rules) completed in
as few rounds as possible.
The
18 teams via open draw were put into 2 groups of 5 teams and 2 groups
of 4 teams with the top 2 teams in each group progressing through to
the quarter finals.
Following
some tough group games the top two placings of each group went
through to the quarter finals and the results were as follows:

Stanford & David Wilcox beat Mary & Barry Fox by 18 shots to
1.

Linda
White & Joe Peters beat Richard Kinghorn & Gary Heath by 10
shots to 3.

Peter
Griffiths & Billy Chapman beat Jayne Thorpe & Rob Bonello by
6 shots to 4.
QF
4.
Hazel
and Phil Spry beat Barry Stanford & Malcolm Spriggs by 11 shots
to 3.
In
semi-final one Peter Griffiths and Billy Chapman beat Hazel &
Phil Spry by 8 shots to 3.
In
semi-final two Steph Stanford & David Wilcox beat Linda White and
Joe Peters by 7 shots to 6.
The
final was a tough affair going down to the last shot on the last end
giving Steph Stanford and her partner a narrow win over Peter
Griffiths and Billy Chapman of 7 shots to 5.
The
3rd and 4th play off place between both
Doddington teams was won by Linda White & Joe Peters.
The
chairman presented prizes to the first 3 team placings along with the
pairs trophy to a smiling Stephanie Stanford.
The
CSMBA with the generosity of its members held a brilliant raffle on
the day for the benefit of the association. Following all deductions
a total of £121.24 will be credited to CSMBA funds.
